To navigate with a single eye,
One must employ a range of forgotten sensory powers.
Inner ears attune to map slopes and peaks by echoes near, and further, and further still.
Skin prickles and warms in the air, taking note of the surroundings. We get closer and closer to what we are seeking on this journey.
But without our peace- our wisdom and compassion, we are a bird with one wing.
As if to hear, see, touch, smell, taste was everything, we live without consideration for what’s inside
until it’s much too late.
Until we bubble and crack open, embarrassing ourselves, exposed.
A one-winged bird would learn how to live on the ground.
We don’t have to suffer like that.
Flying isn’t about being lighter, it’s about being very strong.
